RRR strategy report brings knowledge to next level
The strategy for Climate Adaptive Waterhubs (CAWHS) is the ultimate outcome of the EU Interreg NWE project Rural Roadwater Rescue. This final report integrates the findings on scoping, legal issues, possible solutions and community involvement which were published separately summer 2025 and brings it to the next level.
The strategy presents a comprehensive, integrated, multi-sectoral and multi-level, close-to-practice approach to develop and implement CAWHS. The section mapping of opportunities explores promising locations in North-West Europe to apply the strategy, taking into account the technical, social, ecological and legal context of the location. The report also includes action plans to develop CAWHS near Eindhoven (NL) and Leuven (Be). An implementation pathway and sharing platform are presented as a means to encourage upscaling and replicating the strategy within North-West Europe and exchange best practices.
With this strategy report the RRR partners aim to present a foundation for developing and implementing Climate Adaptive Waterhubs throughout (North-West) Europe and beyond. RRR partners and other parties are anxious to put the RRR theory into practice. Therefore they propose a follow up project to EU Interreg NWE called Sponge Roads. Progress can be followed on Sponge Roads: LinkedIn.
