Involving the community around water management

As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change, it has become increasingly clear that community involvement is crucial in developing effective solutions. In the context of water management, involving local stakeholders can make all the difference in creating sustainable and resilient systems. We are excited to announce the release of our latest chapters on this subject. All items mentioned below are incorporated in the strategy report.

The document "Pragmatic steps in involving the community" describes a step-by-step approach that outlines the key principles and methods for successful community engagement. This approach emphasizes the need for active participation, collaboration, and mutual understanding between all stakeholders involved in water management.

The document “Action Plans” presents two concrete action plans, for Kloosters and Heverlee, demonstrating how this approach can be applied in practice. The plans highlight the unique challenges and opportunities faced by each community and provide tailored actions for improving water management practices.

A more detailed location and stakeholder analysis, with the help of the IMEC Innovatrix Tool, is laid down in the documents: “Fact sheet Kloosters” and “Fact sheet Heverlee”. They provide insight in the geographical area and the mapping of stakeholders with their interests.
